On one of our recent frigid days, University Communications photographer Douglas Levere noticed some novel goose behavior near Crofts Hall on the North Campus. The geese were huddled together in a large group, which helps them share body heat and creates a barrier against harsh weather conditions. It's one of several strategies geese employ to deal with harsh weather conditions — not such novel behavior after all!
